Routine and Advanced Surgical Care
Animal Medical Clinic's brand new, state-of-the-art surgical suite is equipped to meet your pet's needs! The spacious surgical suite offers both surgical and natural lighting, temperature control, monitoring equipment, and a fully adjustable surgical table.
Your pet's anesthetic safety is our top concern. Every anesthetic patient receives an IV catheter for the administration of life-saving medications in the event of an emergency and IV fluid therapy throughout each procedure to help maintain blood pressure. Each patient's heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen concentration, and blood pressure are monitored. Most importantly, each anesthetic patient is directly monitored by a dedicated staff member throughout the procedure, including during induction and recovery.
We pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of surgical sterility. All of our doctors scrub in at our dedicated scrub sink and don a cap, mask, booties, surgical gown, and surgical gloves for every procedure. Our surgical suite remains closed when not in use to minimize contamination of the area.
Both Dr. Sheri Fastenrath and Dr. Lauren Grider perform most routine surgical procedures, including but not limited to spays and neuters, bladder surgery, eyelid surgery, intestinal surgery, and soft tissue surgery. Sometimes pets have a problem that requires a specialist's care. When those cases arise, Dr. Nicki Plunkett and Dr. Geoffery Harriman of Huntsville Veterinary Specialists and Emergency provides specialty surgical care at their new state of the art veterinary hospital located in the hospital district of Huntsville.
